Pearson/Brookes : rain dogs
'rain dogs' was presented in Cardiff, Wales - November 2002 - and marked the first public manifestation of a periodic collaboration between Mike Brookes, Mike Pearson and writer/director Ed Thomas.
Drawing on strategies developed across recent works by Brookes and Pearson, 'rain dogs' attempted to re-examine the generation and reading of narrative - both off and onto the city - through the structured layering and juxtaposition of specific threads of video, narrative text, and documentation.
Combining police cctv footage, text to camera, live readings, and soundscape - within a space and ambient, primarily structured through large-scale multiple projection and a complex live audio mix.
'rain dogs' was performed by Brookes, Pearson and Thomas - layering live readings against the performed texts and actions of ten male actors present only on film.
