{"id":1323,"date":"2013-08-19T22:58:24","date_gmt":"2013-08-19T21:58:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikebrookes.com\/blog\/?p=1323"},"modified":"2022-11-12T21:19:05","modified_gmt":"2022-11-12T20:19:05","slug":"speaking-of-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mikebrookes.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/speaking-of-art\/","title":{"rendered":"speaking of art"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mikebrookes.com\/media\/nido\/speaking\/01[craig-martin]01.jpg\" alt=\"balloons\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gathering with our colleagues from NIDO here in Madrid, we have now initiated the <em>Hablando de arte (Speaking of Art)<\/em> audio and radio project, after a year of periodic planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drawing on William Furlong&#8217;s transcripts of interviews from the <em>Audio Arts<\/em> archive &#8211; we are inviting a selection of guest professionals, friends, and relations, to help us to re-voice translations of those transcripts in to Spanish, as an ongoing independent series of located audio recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To open the series, we selected Furlong&#8217;s short conversation with Michael Craig-Martin in London in 1974 &#8211; discussing his piece <em>The Oak Tree<\/em> from the year before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The words of Furlong, as will always be the case in these recordings, were kindly spoken by secondary school teacher \u00cd\u00f1igo Est\u00e9vez. And those of Craig-Martin, by social worker Paco Fuentes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the purposes of this series, those interviews originally taped within London will be voiced and re-recored at locations within the region of Sierra de Guadarrama.
