{"id":239,"date":"2011-09-27T17:12:52","date_gmt":"2011-09-27T16:12:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikebrookes.com\/blog\/?p=239"},"modified":"2022-11-12T20:44:27","modified_gmt":"2022-11-12T19:44:27","slug":"can-everyone-see-me-if-i-stand-on-this-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mikebrookes.com\/blog\/2011\/09\/can-everyone-see-me-if-i-stand-on-this-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"can everyone see me if I stand on this chair?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mikebrookes.com\/media\/whatif\/chair01.jpg\" alt=\"chair #1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Last night Rosa Casado and I performed the first public work from our <em>What if everything we know wrong?<\/em>&nbsp;project, under the chandeliers and crystal wall lights of Brown\u2019s Alumnae Hall, where we tried to reconstruct somewhere else &#8211; somewhere specific that we know, and have been trying to unpick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From a bag containing thirty pocket dictaphones, three polaroids and a piece of chalk, we built a meeting place under the title <em>Natural is how you found things when you checked-in<\/em>&nbsp;&#8211; a line taken from a lecture by the late Buckinster Fuller &#8211; for a crowd gathered within the otherwise cleared room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The polaroids imperfectly detailed two chairs and a radio. The chalk simply allowed me to locate those objects at scale. The dictaphones carried fragments and details of captured sound, and one archive recording from Buckminster Fuller\u2019s epic forty-two hour lecture &#8211; recorded over two weeks of January 1975 &#8211; which he called <em>Everything I know<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mikebrookes.com\/media\/whatif\/dictaphone02.jpg\" alt=\"dictaphone #2\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last night Rosa Casado and I performed the first public work from our What if everything we know wrong?&nbsp;project, under the chandeliers and crystal wall lights of Brown\u2019s Alumnae Hall, where we tried to reconstruct somewhere else &#8211; somewhere specific that we know, and have been trying to unpick.
